UAE e-invoicing: the 2026 dates that decide when you touch your systems
The pilot opens July 2026 and the first mandate lands January 2027. If your invoicing involves anyone retyping anything, this is your deadline.

E-invoicing is the rare compliance change with a fixed date attached, which makes it unusually easy to plan around. It is also the reason a lot of UAE finance teams are about to discover how much of their invoicing runs on somebody retyping a number.
The timeline
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| July 2026 | Voluntary pilot opens |
| 31 July 2026 | Businesses at AED 50m+ revenue must have appointed an Accredited Service Provider |
| 1 January 2027 | Mandatory e-invoicing begins for that group, in PINT-AE XML |
| Later phases | Smaller businesses follow |
What the penalties look like
Under Cabinet Decision No. 106 of 2025 the headline numbers are AED 5,000 a month for failing to implement, AED 100 per non compliant invoice, and AED 1,000 a day for failing to notify the FTA of a system failure. The per invoice figure is the one that scales unpleasantly for high volume businesses.
Why this is really an automation project
Compliance is the deadline, but the work underneath it is the same work that pays for itself anyway. Every place an invoice gets copied by hand between systems is a place errors enter, and it is exactly the kind of repetitive, rule based, recoverable task that automation handles well.

A sensible order of work
- 1Establish whether your current stack can produce compliant output at all.
- 2Map every point where invoice data is entered or moved by a person.
- 3Automate those first, because they are both the compliance risk and the time cost.
- 4Appoint your Accredited Service Provider well before the July 2026 date rather than in the same month as everyone else.
If you are below the AED 50 million threshold you have longer, but not indefinitely. The cheapest time to build this properly is during a CRM or finance system project you were going to run anyway.
